Havre, MT – It was a tight battle for Blue Pony softball Friday night but a dominate afternoon Saturday.
The Blue Ponies hosted Dawson County on Friday in an absolute thriller. Havre entered the bottom of the seventh down 4-2 and forced extra innings. Neither Havre nor Dawson was able to put a run on the board until the Redevils scored twice in the top of the 11th inning.
Havre’s recent success at bat arrived in the bottom of the 11th were the Ponies knocked in three runs to claim the game 7-6. Seven different Ponies secured a hit at the plate while both Riley Doney and Kenzi Harwood posted two RBIs. Harwoods second RBI was the game securing run.
Carina Purkett pitched all 11 innings in another strong performance for Havre throwing five strikeouts.
The Blue Ponies host Sidney afternoon where they took control early with two runs in the first and never looked back. Havre sored three more combined runs in the third and fourth. The Ponies light up the bats for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning securing the 11-0 victory in their final regular season home game.
Bree Hanson went 4-4 at the plate for six RBI’s and two runs. Once again, it was Carina Purkett controlling the mound for Havre with four strikeouts.
As winners of their last three Havre is 7-8-1 in the regular season.
