Blue Ponies VB Finish 2nd at State

(Bozeman) – The Havre Blue Pony Volleyball Team wrapped up play at the All-Class State “A” Tournament in Bozeman needing three victories on Saturday to earn a state championship.

In the third-place match, The Blue Ponies defeated the Hardin Bulldogs in Five Sets 29-27,20-25, 19,25, 25-18, 15-9. Yelena Miller had 16 kills and 3 blocks to lead the Ponies. Molly Huse had 40 assists, Avery Carlson, 29 digs and Emilee Chambliss five aces.

That victory set up a rematch for the Ponies with Billings Central, with the Ponies need to win to force a second championship match. Havre defeated Billings Central in the first championship match in four sets -, 25-23, 20,25, 25-23, 25-22. Miller again led the ponies in kills and blocks with 13 and 6. Huse had 41 Assists, Carlson 34 Digs and Lizzi Haney had three aces in that match.

The victory by the Blue Ponies in the first championship match forced a second championship tilt with the Rams. Billings Central claimed the Class “A” Title with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 victory over the Blue Ponies. Kyanna  Jarvis led Havre with 13 kills. Yelena Miller had two blocks and two aces in the match, Molly Huse had 26 assists and Lizzi Haney and Jarvis each had 16 Digs.

The other state champions crowned on Saturday were Billings Senior in Class “AA”, Huntley Project in Class “B” and Manhattan Christian in Class “C”.
