Havre, MT – July has come to close which means all Havre High Blue Pony offseason workouts have ceased till official practices begin August 14.
Throughout summer strength and conditioning workouts and summer team camp, Havre head coach Jake Eldridge thought there was one clear surprise to his roster this season.
“I think the biggest surprise for me has been where we are at with our depth. I really like the quality of our depth in most positions. Obviously, I think we have a couple (positions) we still have to get answers on.” Eldridge said.
“Even though we lost quite a few kids that played a lot of football for us at a varsity level; a lot of these kids that are going to be juniors and even going to be seniors, a lot of these guys have been developed through our freshman and JV program.”
“they’ve got a lot of reps underneath their belt, and they’ve been playing together at those levels, so our depth is in a really good spot. They surprised the heck out of us when we went to team camp and the growth that we saw from day one to day two was really tremendous.”
The Blue Ponies will have two full weeks of practice before they open the year in Blue Pony Stadium against the Whitefish Bulldogs on Friday, August 28, at 7p.m.
