(Browning) — A Browning man accused of beating and then using a belt to assault a woman on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation admitted to an assault charge, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said.
The defendant, 29 year old Briar Joseph Crawford, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. Crawford faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, a 250 thousand dollar fine and three years of supervised release.
Chief U.S District Judge Brian M. Morris presided. The court will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Sentencing was set for January 29th, 2025. Crawford was detained pending further proceedings.
