Browning Man Sentenced for Domestic Assault and Witness Tampering

(Great Falls) – A 23-year-old Browning man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for domestic assault and witness tampering.

Jeremiah James Harwood pleaded guilty in August to strangulation, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and witness tampering involving two separate cases.

Court documents show Harwood strangled one intimate partner with a lanyard in 2025, and roughly a year later, while on pretrial release, repeatedly beat a second partner, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury.

Federal officials say Harwood then attempted to convince the second victim to alter her statement to investigators, but she instead reported the tampering to the FBI.
