Burger King Submits Restaurant Plan Updates to City of Havre

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The City of Havre recently received updated plans for a Burger King restaurant to be built in Havre. Public Works Director Dave Peterson says the City has been in talks with Burger King since last year to bring a restaurant to town, but construction was delayed after the contractor bids came in higher than they expected.

“So what they sent us just recently was, you know, the changes or the upgrades to the plans from what we had from last year, which included, I think electrical changes, some elevation changes, things like that.”

Peterson says he hasn’t heard of a solid timeline for the project, but he hopes construction will get underway this spring.

“I think they will get the plans out, you know, for contractors and they will, you know, receive new bids. As they stated last year, the bids came in too high for their project last year based on what they had left for their construction budget for ’18. So ’19 was going to be a new year and they’ll have additional monies that, you know, they can put toward this project.”

Peterson says Burger King still plans to build on the same lot they were looking at last year near 4Bs. The City has completed the construction they agreed to do for the lot and Burger King has agreed to finish paving the adjacent streets and add gutters and sidewalks.
