HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Cape Air has once again been awarded the federally subsidized Essential Air Service contract for eastern Montana.
This four-year contract provides multiple daily round-trip flights from airports in Glasgow, Glendive, Havre, Sidney and Wolf Point to Billings.
Essential Air Service contracts ensure small communities are served by certified air carriers and have access to a large or medium-hub airport.
In return for providing these flights, Cape Air receives a federal subsidy. Terms of the new contract are not available, but subsidies from the previous contract ranged from $2.2 million received annually for service to Glasgow to $4.2 million for service to Sidney.
A representative for Cape Air confirmed the renewal.
Cape Air’s previous contract expired on December 31.
