Casino Robbery

(Billings)- A robbery led to an elementary student recovering a firearm on the playground. Two individuals robbed a Casino in Billings, then in attempting to flee local law enforcement crashed their car into an elementary school fence. The two individuals ditched their firearms before the officers arrived. The officers were able to locate only one of the firearms in the school’s playground, but the next day an elementary student found the other firearm and took it to a teacher. When the officers questioned the robbers on where they received their firearms, they named Darwin Sutherland. An investigation then found that the two firearms used were a part of 12 stolen firearms reported from a residential burglary. Sutherland admitted to possessing all 12 and knowing they were stolen but claimed he didn’t burglarize the residence. All individuals are pending sentencing.
