Catholic Church on Montana Reservation Destroyed by Fire

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) – A fire has destroyed St. Mary’s Catholic Church on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in north-central Montana. Nobody was hurt in the fire, which occurred Saturday morning. The Rev. Joseph Tran said that he has no idea what sparked the blaze. Sister Margaret O’Doherty said that she noticed the smoke and knew something was wrong. When she opened the door, the church was filled with smoke. The church was planning to decorate the tree and the church Sunday in preparation for the Christmas pageant Tuesday. The church was built in 1979.
