CBP’s Inbound Inspection Process at the Northern Border Operates Consistent with Policies and Procedures

(Washington D.C.) – Unted States Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Office of Field Operations inspection process operates consistent with established policies and procedures to limit inadmissible travelers from entering the United States through the northern border land ports of entry (POE)
During their more than 380 observations at 49 land POEs along the U.S. northern border between July and September 2024, they ined that CBP officers followed required inbound inspection policies and procedures. Specifically, prior to determining if an individual was admissible to enter the United States, CBP officers:
• obtained required documents and validated individuals’ identity;
• queried all occupants in each vehicle;
• referred individuals for secondary inspections, as applicable; and
• processed customs information.
CBP officers’ compliance with these requirements helps protect the American people from inadmissible individuals who may pose health, safety, or national security risks from entering the country.
