(NMB) March 1st is the day outdoor recreationists can buy their 2026 hunting licenses. This year, hunters will see some changes that are worth paying attention to. Some of the biggest changes are with deer regulations like many mule deer B licenses will be valid only on private land. Another change according to FWP region 6 communications director Mark Kloker is residents can only hold up to three deer licenses, down from eight.
“You can have your general deer license. Which is, a lot of people call this their buck tag, which is either sex, either species. You could have two additional whitetail doe tags, maybe a mule deer doe tag and a whitetail doe tag. The combination as of this year is only up to three, whereas in the past you could have up to eight deer licenses. Seven antlerless and one general deer license.”
Fish, Wildlife and Parks remind you to make sure to read the regulations prior to buying or applying for any licenses or permits. The regulations for your hunting district may have changed.
