The time has come and gone for first-year principal and activities director of Chinook High School Brian Rayburn. He told New Media Broadcasters about his first few months in charge and how positive the experience has been thus far.
“It’s been a great start to the school year,” Rayburn said. “We have a lot of great students here that are working hard not just in the classroom, but on the court and on the field (as well).”
“We just have a great group of community members who are supportive,” Rayburn continued. “(Thye jobs are) everything that I was hoping it would be.”
Chinook High School has been holding homecoming events all week long. While it will continue to be special for the high school, Rayburn points out that it’s also a community-wide celebration with what’s going on in town.
“The students have had a great week here with typical dress-up days,” Rayburn said. “We had a movie on the field, so we put up a big projection screen on the football field and we watched ‘Back to the Future.'”
“We’ve got the high school barbecue and cornhole competition,” Rayburn continued. “Thursday, we’ve got our pep assembly and parade with the floats that our students are out building right now.”
“It’ll be a good week ahead of us,” Rayburn said. “Here in Chinook, it’s also the Sugarbeet festival going on this weekend.”
