Chinook Athlete Was Montana’s Best This Week

For competition from March 31st through April 5th, 2025, Chinook High senior Carson Nissen was chosen as the Montana High School Association (MHSA) “Male Athlete of the Week”. Nissen had a field day at the Cal Wearley Memorial Meet in Havre over this last weekend, breaking personal records aplenty as well as qualifying for the state tournament in Missoula next month.

He came out of the gates hot, winning the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.54. Nissen then took his talents to the field, where he was a second-place long jumper at 20 feet and 10.25 inches, getting himself into the state tournament field. To close out his day, he took home another individual title with a 40-foot and 1.5-inch triple jump, which was another PR.

Nissen will try to equal and best his efforts this weekend as the Sugarbeeters’ track and field teams are competing in Choteau all day on Saturday.
