Toughness Led to Northstars Strong Season

Havre, MT – Havre Northstars baseball ended the year with a close loss in the Class A state semifinal the Miles City Mavericks 21-17.

The run for the Havre to the state semifinal started in the middle of conference play. After starting the year with a 7-7-1 overall record the Northstars railed claiming the one seed at districts and going undefeated for a district tournament title.

Head coach Ben Mader spoke to the run his team made in the postseason.

“Not what I expected at the start of the season for sure. I would say I’m just excited for the boys and it was pretty amazing to watch them.”

Havre battled through the adversity of the early season struggles and coach Mader said it’s all credit to the toughness and character of his players.

“I would just say they’re tough. They’ve met almost any challenge that’s been thrown at them pretty close to the right way, and they just don’t go away both mentally and physically. They are always there for each other good or bad.”

The Northstars finished with a 36-19-1 overall record and went 6-2 in their post season run.
