Chinook Boys’ Basketball Looking to End String of Losses

The Chinook boys’ basketball team (0-4) has been on a losing streak to begin 2023-24. The Beeters had an opportunity to get in the win column on Saturday but couldn’t hold onto the lead against Shelby. Beeters coach Bill Bell told New Media Broadcasters what factors played into his young team’s inability to come out victorious.

“I would just say that the boys don’t have enough experience finishing out the big games like that and it showed,” Bell said. “(Shelby) capitalized on our mistakes more than we did on theirs.”

“We haven’t been able to meet some of our goals that we set for ourselves (like) playing a complete game (and)points per quarter,” Bell continued. “Scoring nine points in the 4th quarter (against Shelby) really hurt us.”

Chinook will have to lose memory of the last game and prepare on a short week to travel to Fort Benton and then come right back to their home gym to play Rocky Boy. Bell said what the team is doing to get ready on such short notice.

“We are going to put our best foot forward with a short practice because it’s really hard with only one practice to prepare for two teams,” Bell said. “We just have to make sure the boys are ready to play their game and then we adapt to whatever Fort Benton and Rocky Boy are going to try and do to us.”

The Beeter Boys’ game with Fort Benton will tip off around 7:30 on Tuesday night. The game with Rocky Boy at home is also set for 7:30 on Wednesday night. Isreal Hale and Kyle Leeds will bring you the Tuesday action and Noah Friedman has you covered on KRYK for Wednesday’s home game.
