The Chinook girls’ basketball team takes an undefeated record into the new year. New Media Broadcasters spoke with coach Mike Seymour and he assessed his team’s key players, guard Alexus Seymour and forward Hallie Neibauer. He credited the girls’ hard work in the offseason as a driving force behind the strong start to the Beeters’ run so far.
“I am proud of how our girls play.” Seymour said. “Hallie and Alexus have put a lot of time into their game in the summer playing on the AAU circuit. I think the speed of that has maybe slowed the high school game down for them a little bit, which really helps.”
As great as it is for good teams to have individual contributions, basketball is a team game. Seymour puts that into perspective when he was asked about the state of the Lady Beeters.
“We’ve got some other girls who have really filled in and stepped up into their roles,” Seymour said. “There’s so many things that go on in a game other than just scoring; setting screens, stealing, making passes at the proper time.”
Chinook High School is in the midst of the Christmas break, but will come back to play games on Jan. 5 at Fairfield and Jan 6. back home versus Cut Bank.
