The Chinook Sugarbeeters girls’ basketball team is embarking on the 2023-24 season later this week. Head coach Mike Seymour told New Media Broadcasters what the team has been up to and how they have ramped up their workload before the start of the season.
“We’ve had a couple of live scrimmages,” Seymour said. “Last Saturday, we had a live scrimmage and had an opportunity to evaluate where our players were.”
“We’re still searching for some roles for certain players and hopefully as the week progresses, we’ll be able to iron everything out,” Seymour continued.
Throw everything out the window from last season because the Beeters are back in Class ‘B’ basketball. The first test is against the Choteau Bulldogs. Coach Seymour said that the defense his team will play will be successful on both sides of the floor.
“Defensively, we’re going to come out and try to make their offense as uncomfortable as possible (and) throw their timing off,” Seymour said. “(We’re) just trying to apply as much defensive pressure for the entire full court.”
“Hopefully our defensive pressure leads into some transition baskets on offense,” Seymour continued.
The Chinook and Choteau girls’ will play at 4pm on Friday and that is a game that can be heard exclusively on KRYK-101.3FM.
