It was another split for Chinook basketball on Thursday night as the girls’ got a (47-35) road win at Fort Benton, while the boys’ dropped another one to the Longhorns, (56-38).
For the girls’ (9-2), they finally got space from the Lady Longhorns and were able to seize on the momentum of the third quarter, outscoring Fort Benton (14-6). They also held it down defensively, holding star freshman Lilly Ferris to just three points in the second half after allowing her to score 11 in the first 16 minutes. Alexus Seymour finished the game as the only Beeter in double-figures with 11 points.
The boys’ (3-9) had the opposite happen to them with the Longhorns going on a (16-9) run in the third quarter. They had no answer for Kellan Diekhans down low, who finished with a game-high 24 points. Jameson Nordboe had 10 points as the only double-digit scorer for Chinook.
