The Chinook Sugarbeeters (7-1) will travel to Ennis this Saturday to take on the Mustangs (7-1). Normally a 7-1 record would earn a home playoff game, but as they say, in the playoffs you have to beat them all anyway. Chinook go into the opening round after enjoying a week off.
Head Coach of the Sugarbeeters, Mike Jones, used the week off to stress one message above all else, physicality.
“It was pretty physical. We got back to those fundamentals and doing them physically. Blocking, the audibles, the hitting, all those things that we need to do really physically at an individual level. I thought we had a great week of practice doing those things.”
Playing such a talented team in Ennis with different offensive weapons, Coach Jones’s gameplan for the week will be to keep those weapons on the sideline as much as possible.
“Looks like they’ve got a pretty good quarterback that’s going to scramble around. They’ve got a couple good runners and a couple good receivers. So, defensively we’re going to have to be on our best game and offensively we’re going to look to control that clock, so they have less time to run that offense.
Kickoff is at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 29th.
