Chinook knocks out undefeated Valley Christian in 8 man first round football

The Chinook Sugarbeeters took to the road to face the undefeated Valley Christian Eagles in Missoula on Saturday, in the opening round of the state 8-man football playoffs.

The Eagles started scoring in the first quarter with a field goal to move up 3-0, then it was all Chinook for the rest of the first half. The Beeters threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third to move ahead 20-3 after one, and chalked up another rushing score to hold a 28-3 halftime lead.

Valley Christian held Chinook at bay for the third quarter while finding the end zone twice, to close the quarter 28-18. Chinook regained their momentum in the final stanza, with two more passing touchdowns to secure their victory. Valley Christian entered the end zone one more time, yet fell to the Sugarbeeters 40-24.

Next Saturday, quartfinal action will see Chinook traveling once again, to face Circle/Drummond-Phillipsburg at 1p
