Chinook Track and Field Results – Northern B Divisional Day 1

The Chinook track and field teams were in Glasgow for the first day of the divisional meet. The top-6 competitors from each event qualified for the state meet next week. Here are some notable finishes by the Sugarbeeters:

Carson Nissen was second in the boys’ triple jump, going 38 feet and 8.25 inches. Hannah Schoen, who had already qualified for state in the girls’ shot put, came in second for this day in the event, chucking a 36-foot and 2.75 inch throw. Hallie Neibauer took second in the girls’ 400-meter dash, going 1:03.29.

The girls’ 1600 meters was a seventh and eighth place finish for the Beeters as Neva Lowe (a personal-best 5:39.62) and Alexus Seymour (5:51.68) just missed the mark in qualifying for state. Quentin Edwards came up just short in the boys’ shot put, throwing it 42 feet and 9.5 inches and finishing eighth. Oliver Standiford (140 feet and seven inches) and Gyme Kelly (132 feet and 11 inches) will have another crack at qualifying for state after finishing seventh and eighth in the boys’ javelin.

There will be more chances to qualify for next week’s state meet on Saturday when day two of the divisional begins at 10am.
