HELENA, Mont. — Two Montana tribes will each receive up to $250,000 to support behavioral health services under a new state pilot program.
Governor Greg Gianforte announced the awards Monday as part of a $2.5 million investment benefiting rural counties and tribal communities.
The Chippewa Cree tribe and the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians are among ten recipients selected for the Local Innovations in Behavioral Health Grant Program.
The initiative helps local partners develop and implement community-based mental health solutions.
The funding supports either collaborative efforts between service providers or the use of trained community health workers to connect people with care.
The grants are part of a broader $300 million behavioral health reform package.
