(NMB) The Chippewa Cree Tribal Court says it is mourning the death of Chief Judge Harold A. Monteau who passed away on December 27th. In a Facebook statement from Chippewa Cree Tribal court, it stated that details regarding the tragic event will continue to emerge in the coming days and months. The statement also said that Monteau was known for his traditional judicial qualities and strong administrative leadership skills to effectively manage the court system.
Associate Judge Duane Gopher will serve as acting Chief Judge and Monteau’s cases will be assigned to another Judge.
