HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Congressman Greg Gianforte presented the Spirit of Montana award to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Ohl of Malta Tuesday, April 21.
Ohl was recognized for is efforts in getting blood delivered to a clinic in Malta after finding out the Montana Highway Patrol wouldn’t be able to make the delivery.
Ohl flew his own plane, a Beach Craft Bonanza 6-seater, over 200 miles to Great Falls, picked up the blood platelets and delivered them back to the clinic. His actions helped save a life.
The Spirit of Montana is a weekly recognition for Montanans who go above and beyond the call of duty. Gianforte contacts each recipient personally and then highlights the awardee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
