HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Hill County man has been given a 10-year suspended sentence with the Department of Corrections after admitting to being the driver in a high-speed pursuit in Havre on August 8th.
18-year-old Jaylen Jake Crazy Boy was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz in Hill County District Court after pleading guilty to felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense) back in September.
Crazy Boy was also ordered to pay $6,944.08 in restitution.
As per the plea agreement, the other charges filed in the case were dismissed. That includes 10 additional counts of felony criminal endangerment, as well as the misdemeanors of reckless driving, fleeing from or eluding a Peace Officer, Driving with a Suspended License, and being a Habitual Traffic Offender.
Crazy Boy did not speak prior to sentencing.
This sentence will run consecutively with the 10 year sentence in the Department of Corrections, with five of those suspended, for the felonies of theft, theft by common scheme and engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise he was given a month ago.
In the Judgment, Snipes-Ruiz noted that Crazy Boy has had about 70 interactions with law enforcement in the past seven years, and that, “nothing short of incarceration has stopped the Defendant’s criminal activity.
This pursuit occurred after Crazy Boy had entered his guilty pleas in the burglary cases he was facing but prior to sentencing, as he had posted bond.
Crazy Boy remains in the Hill County Detention Center, where he has been since August 8th.
