Crooked Creek Fire Estimated at Over 5,400 Acres

CARBON COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A fire burning in the Pryor Mountains of southern Montana remained at 5,400 acres with 0 percent containment as of Tuesday night.

Containment was listed at 20 percent on Monday but was dropped down to 0 percent after a reassessment of the fire line.

The Crooked Creek Fire is on public lands 25 miles east of the town of Bridger and near the southern border of the Crow Reservation. One outbuilding was lost on Saturday.

231 personnel have been assigned to the fire and they are working to protect structures, historical resources, watersheds, and high voltage power lines.

A pre-evacuation warning has been issued for 25 residences in the Sage Creek Area.

Public lands in the area are closed due to safety concerns.
