(Bozeman) – The Custer Gallatin National Forest, Yellowstone Ranger today released the Final Environmental Impact Statement and Draft Decision for the East Boulder Mine Plan of Operations and Operating Permit Amendment 004.
The Draft Record of Decision identified that Alternative 3 met the intent of the proposed action and incorporates additional design elements including construction of the Lewis Gulch and Dry Fork facilities to provide tailings and waste rock storage capacity needed in 2025. This alternative would enable platinum group metals to be produced for 11 to 14 years and would provide continued employment of up to 600 people.
The Dry Fork Waste Rock Storage Area storm water channels would convey a 1-in-200 year, 24-hour precipitation event and geomorphic or landform architecture design which would be used to create a more natural appearance for the two facilities, help reduce erosion, and improve revegetation success.
