Any abandoned, unclaimed funds are turned over to the Montana Department of Revenue, in hopes of returning to the rightful owner.

In 2021, the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administration (NAUPA) launched the first National Unclaimed Property Day on February 1st. They encourage everyone to check on missing money dot com, to see if their state is holding unclaimed property for them.
