HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The 2019 General Elections are a few weeks away and New Media Broadcasters is profiling candidates in contested races.
In Havre’s one contested race, Derek Eldridge will be up against incumbent Erik Meis for the Ward 4 City Council seat. Eldridge is originally from Great Falls and has been in Havre for several years. He is the manager of Fivehead’s and his main goal is the help out the residents of Havre.
“I decided that I wanted to be part of the solution to the problems, I guess. There’ve been a lot of issues around the City that a lot of people have been talking about, obviously the roads are one of them. And, I like to think that I can think outside of the box, I guess. So, maybe I might have an idea to help.”
Eldridge is concerned about the town’s infrastructure, but also would like to add incentives for property owners to keep up on their properties.
“The streets are definitely one of the issues that I would like to see taken care of. I know it’s been an issue for a while. The other one is the vacant property ordinance that they’re trying to come up with right now. That’s definitely something for me, because there are a lot of empty, vacant properties around town.”
Stay tuned to New Media Broadcasters to hear from other candidates in contested races in our area.
