HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The annual Everybody Loves Firefighters, or ELF, Food Drive was held on Wednesday and Thursday last week and over 7,400 pounds of food was collected for Havre’s Food Bank. Manager Sammantha Nimmick says they are still expecting another load of donated food to come in this week. So far, they received about 1,200 pounds more during this food drive than they did last year.
These donations help them to get through the winter months and fill their holiday boxes.
Nimmick says that things have been picking up at the Food Bank recently. They had five new clients last week alone and provided food to 162 households, not counting the food boxes.
Their Town Pump Fundraising Campaign is still collecting money for Havre’s Food Bank and will match the donations up to $10,000. This drive runs through the end of November and Nimmick says they haven’t even reached the halfway point yet.
