HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Labor Day weekend is upon us and the Havre Police Department will have extra patrols out over the holiday weekend in an effort to ensure safe driving in our community.
Lieutenant Aaron Wittmer says patrols are out now and will be looking for impaired drivers and seatbelt violations through the weekend. These officers will only be conducting traffic stops to help encourage safe driving behaviors, and won’t be responding to other calls.
The department has received a grant through the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program through the Montana Department of Transportation to help cover the cost of overtime hours to the officers on duty.
