FEMA to Help with Costs of Buffalo Fire

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte says that Montana has secured Fire Management Assistance Grants from FEMA to assist with costs related with fighting the Buffalo Fire in Yellowstone County.

The request was submitted by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation on Friday and was approved in short order.

As of early Monday, the fire was at under 300 acres and at 75 percent containment. It has destroyed three structures near Huntley.

The grants will allow the federal government to pay 75 percent of the state’s eligible firefighting costs.
