(NMB) Fire crews across Northcentral Montana are closely monitoring the growing Camp Creek Fire in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, where smoke has spread across the region and is impacting air quality from Augusta to Great Falls and surrounding communities. Residents are reporting reduced visibility, smoky skies, and even ash fall in some areas as winds carry smoke across the plains.
State fire officials say hot, dry conditions continue to support wildfire activity across Montana, with dozens of active fires burning statewide. The Montana DNRC reports more than 50 active fires, including several large incidents that are tying up firefighting resources.
Health officials are urging people, especially those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activity when smoke levels rise and to monitor local air-quality reports. Fire managers continue to watch weather conditions closely as the wildfire season remains active across the state.
