MEAGHER COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – Large scale efforts to deal with the Deep Creek Fire in the Big Belt Mountains are being scaled back as containment on the 4,600 acre fire reached 95 percent as of Thursday morning.
Three single residences and four other structures have been lost in the fire.
Evacuation orders have been lifted.
US Highway 12 between Townsend and White Sulphur Springs remains open but at reduced speeds of 35 miles an hour and with significant delays.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, responding personnel have discovered a fallen tree caused a downed powerline.
