HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A wildfire on Tuesday burned 500 acres of pasture, wheat, brush and stubble southwest of Havre.
At 5:06 pm, local departments received a call of a fire burning approximately six miles southeast of Fresno off US Highway 87.
According to Josh Bebee, Fire Chief for Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department, 20 fire trucks were on scene. In addition to trucks from Bear Paw, trucks came from Box Elder, Gildford, Kremlin, Wild Horse and Havre. Several land owners with water also came to the scene to provide help.
Officials believe the fire was caused by a combine.
There was no threat to people or property.
The fire was extinguished around 8:00 pm and mop up duty on the fire was completed around 9:30 pm.
Bebee says landowners were out checking the fire area Wednesday and no hot spots have been found.
