(Havre) – On Monday, Northern Montana Health Care celebrated the first eleven graduates from its medical assistant apprenticeship program. Katie Kimberling from NMCH spearheaded the program, and Sarah Swanson, commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry told New Media Broadcasters how DLI helped Northern Montana Health Care develop this program.
“We connected her with Walter Gonzalez, one of our apprenticeship registered specialists here at the department and he walked her through what is an apprenticeship, how do we establish a trade schedule, how do we recruit apprentices into a program and then once we start the program, how do we complete the curriculum required, the on the job training required and how do we gets folks empowered to do this important work at Northern Montana Healthcare.”
The Medical Assistant Apprentice program at Northern Montana Health Care is the first program in Montana.
