HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Ballot Interference Prevention Act is in effect this election season. Deputy Election Administrator for Hill County Kaci Hipple says that if you are depositing another person’s ballot, this new law requires that you complete the Ballot Collection Registry form.
This new law states that ballots may only be returned by an acquaintance, caregiver, family or household member. If you are depositing someone else’s ballot, you must provide your name, address, phone number and signature, as well as the name, address, and relationship to each voter for whom you are delivering ballots.
These registry forms will be mailed out with the ballots and can also be found at the Courthouse or polling places.
A person may only return six ballots per election. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in a fine of $500 per ballot.
