FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Community Council has voted to impose a Reservation-wide shutdown through January 26th due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the community.
A press release says the shutdown impacts all non-essential businesses within the Fort Belknap Indian Community. Essential businesses providing food and fuel are on limited hours.
Curfew is at 9 PM each night, and the Council is urging people to wear masks and social distance when out in public.
This comes as the Hays-Lodgepole and Dodson School Districts have temporarily shifted to remote learning as a result of the surge.
As of Tuesday evening, there were 89 active COVID-19 cases on the Reservation. The active case count was down to zero as recently as January 10th.
