FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council has rescinded nearly all COVID restrictions on the Reservation.
The vote on March 18th was 7-1 in favor of fully reopening, with two members having an excused absence. The resolution took effect on Monday.
Masks remain required on public transportation and wherever designated by the local public health authority and the CDC.
The resolution states that “although there are still cases of the coronavirus and its variants,” they feel that the “number of new cases has decreased to the point … it is safe to rescind restrictions.”
Fort Belknap Incident Command will continue to monitor the spread of COVID, and residents are encouraged to continue to be cautious to prevent the spread of COVID.
As of Monday evening, there was one active case of COVID-19 on the Reservation. 1,351 cases have been reported in total, with 15 deaths and 1,335 recoveries.
