FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The results of the October 5th Fort Belknap Primary Election have been unveiled.
850 of 6,450 registered voters cast their ballots, putting voter turnout at 13.18 percent.
Results are below:
For the positions of President and Vice-President (four year terms):
- Tescha Hawley and Edward “Buster” Moore: 103 votes
- Virgil “Stone Chief” Talksdifferent and Felicia Mount: 64 votes
- Jeffrey “Jeff” Stiffarm and Judith J. “Judy” King: 318 votes
- William T. “Snuffy” Main and Donald “Duck” Horn: 174 votes
- Andrew Russell Werk Jr. and John A. Allen: 181 votes
For seats on the Council, the following races and candidates are on the ballot (all two year terms):
- River Gros Ventre District Representative:
- Dominic Messerly: 131 votes
- Connie L. Filesteel: 80 votes
- Mountain Gros Ventre District Representative:
- William Hughes Sr.: 78 votes
- Warren D. Morin: 127 votes
- Raymond Chandler Jr.: 51 votes
- Gros Ventre At Large/Representative Elected by Gros Ventre Voters:
- Stephen “Shelly” Fox: 232 votes
- Harold “Jiggs” Main: 137 votes
- Joey Kill Eagle: 108 votes
- Gros Ventre At Large/Representative Elected by Both Tribes:
- Geno Levaldo: 435 votes
- Brenda Essert: 113 votes
- Mike “Gopher” Fox: 289 votes
- River Assiniboine District Representative:
- Robert “Bobby” Ironmaker Sr.: 107 votes
- Derek “Sam” Azure: 113 votes
- Mountain Assiniboine District Representative:
- Brian Kevin Wing: 122 votes
- Assiniboine At Large/Representative Elected by Both Tribes:
- Diana Bigby: 146 votes
- Wesley Medicine Bear: 57 votes
- Tracy “Ching” King: 382 votes
- Avis M. Ball: 119 votes
- Tyler Allen: 62 votes
- Violet R. Yellow: 71 votes

The general election is scheduled for November 2nd.
For the race for Assiniboine At-Large Representative/Elected by Assiniboine Voters, the primary will take place on November 16th, with absentee balloting beginning on October 27th. The candidates are:
- Curtis Horn
- Tina Bierle Has The Eagle
- Cheryl D. Horn
- John Filesteel Jr.
- Alan “Al” Knute Kulbeck
- Gina Rae Helgeson
The reason the election for this seat is taking place after the other races is because of the lack of candidates before the original filing deadline.
