Founder’s Day Excellence Award

(Havre) – With the Montana State University Northern Alumni foundation accepting nominations for the Founder’s Excellence Award New Media Broadcasters sat down with Melanie Skoyen the director of the foundation to talk about the award.

“So, the Founder’s Excellence Award is a tradition that started over 50 years ago and it usually takes place in the spring. it is for someone that their loyalty and service have really enhanced the development of the Montana State University Northern. The candidates for the founder excellence must be an alum, an administrator, form of faculty, or friend of northern.”

We also asked when the award began.

“So, it was actually in 1976 that that founder day was added as a Northern Montana college tradition, and they would do it right around commencement and then it even began to be a tradition that they would always do with the athletic hall of fame and now its separated out and now it has its own banquet and dinner for the award celebration.”
