Earlier this month, Havre senior track and field athlete Kaydance Reiter announced her commitment to run at the University of Montana starting in the fall of 2025. She made the announcement in front of family, friends, coaches, and classmates inside the Havre High gym.
Reiter had a simple decision to make. Which Treasure State Division I NCAA program did she want to represent? She had offers from both the Griz and the MSU Bobcats at the end of the day.
New Media Broadcasters caught up with Reiter and asked how she became a Grizzly and what led her to making this ultimate choice that will impact her life for the next few years.
“I just thought it was the place for me,” Reiter said. “Like I said before, the coaching staff and the teammates are just amazing.”
“I just fell in love with the campus,” Reiter continued. “I just felt like Missoula was for me at the end of the day.”
“I’m just really happy with the decision I made,” Reiter said. “I’m just really excited to see what I can bring to Missoula next year.”
Reiter took the time to thank the place she has called home. She said Havre has meant a lot to her as the community support was able to push her across the finish line in becoming a future UM product.
“I just really want to put Havre on the map out there,” Reiter said. “I just feel like Havre’s a big supporter of the Griz and I just felt like I really wanted that for myself.”
“The community of Havre is just so supportive,” Reiter continued. “I just really thank them for that.”
Reiter’s Blue Pony track and field career is stacked and she still has one more season to go. Her goals are lofty, but she has full confidence that this can be attained through offseason training rolling into a new campaign this upcoming spring.
“Major goals of mine are definitely breaking the state record in the 100 and 200 (meter dash),” Reiter said. “I feel like it’s really capable and in my range.”
“(I) just really want to see my team succeed as well,” Reiter continued. “We as a team are just really strong and I’d like to see where that goes next year.”
Congratulations to Havre Blue Pony athlete Kaydance Reiter on committing to the University of Montana Track and Field team.
