Frontier Conference Represents in Two NAIA Quarterfinals Matchups

The Montana Tech Orediggers and The Montana Western Lady Bulldogs of the Frontier Conference reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA Basketball Tournament.

The Montana Tech Orediggers were defeated by Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ) (76-58) in the quarterfinals of the Men’s NAIA Basketball Tournament.

The Orediggers trailed by one (30-29) at halftime, before OUAZ outscored Montana Tech (46-29) in the second half. Asa (Asia) Williams (15pts; 7reb) and Camdyn Larance (16pts) were the scoring leaders for the Bulldogs in the loss.

Montana Tech represented the Frontier Conference with a quarterfinal’s appearance and a (29-5) record to end their season.

 

In the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament the Montana Western Bulldogs were defeated by the #1 seed Thomas More (66-62).

3 Bulldogs hit double digits scoring. Brynley Fitzgerald (14pts; 6reb), Shainy Mack (17pts), and Jordan Sweeney (14pts; 7reb) were the top scorers. Montana Western had an efficient day scoring the basketball, shooting 45% from the field, 36% from the 3-point line, and 92% from the free-throw line. The Lady Bulldogs did, however, have 16 turnovers compared to the Lady Saints with 8.

Montana Western finished their season with a 28-6 record and a quarterfinal appearance the in NAIA Basketball Tournament.
