(Washington, D.C.) – The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of $343 million in Fiscal Year 2024 federal funding to make it easier for people with disabilities and mobility needs to access some of the nation’s oldest and busiest rail transit systems through essential upgrades, such as elevators.
The All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP), created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will increase access to transportation systems and advance the promotion of equity, address the workforce shortage, and boost economic strength. Funding through ASAP ensures that those relying on rail systems can get to work and school, be less dependent on vehicles, save money, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
