MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – The Missoulian reports that a man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a pursuit late Thursday night across eastern Idaho and western Montana.
Mineral County Sheriff Mike Toth says 30-year-old Jesse R. Spitzer of Sultan, Washington has been arrested following the pursuit that began at 10:30 PM Thursday in Idaho.
Spitzer was allegedly fleeing authorities after being accused of stealing items including a vehicle in Washington state the week prior.
He had escaped law enforcement numerous times over the past week, but the pursuit that led to his capture began when law enforcement saw him in Kellogg, Idaho. Spitzer then drove across Lookout Pass into Montana.
Spitzer’s vehicle was disabled by law enforcement on I-90, and he then tried to run away. He was arrested at around 9 AM Friday in Mineral County after being located by a canine unit in a trailer in an RV park.
Toth says Spitzer fired shots at law enforcement when in Idaho, but no officers were injured.
