(Havre) – On Saturday November 12th the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church will be hosting a “Fun” Raiser Pig Roast from 12pm to 3pm. Judy Jones the lead coordinator of the Pig Roast talks about the event.
“It’s Sunday from noon to 3pm at the church in the fellowship room we will be having Bob Moliter cook the pig. We also have with that coleslaw, baked bean, and chips, homemade pie, Ice cream, and cake and lots of different kinds of drinks. This year because it’s on November 12th we would like to give our veterans a free meal. So, any of the veterans that come in you will be receiving a free meal in honor of you and thanking you for your patronage and what you’ve done for us. We have live music every year, Gene Allen and Friends is playing again. People can come in and get the orders to go or they can call it in and go to the back kitchen door and we run it out to your car, and you can have your to go orders.”
She continues by talking about What inspired the event.
“Well we used to do a Harvest Dinner of roast beef and mashed potatoes and it was always in the fall and that kind of fell away and we were trying to think of something that was different. that we didn’t want to step on the other churches turkey dinners or lutefisk, or salad luncheon, and so this came about. And somebody said ‘well Bob Molitor cooks you know all these meats and we thought let’s do a pig roast. So, we just kinda got started with that and people enjoyed it so we thought let’s just keep working on this one.”
