(West Yellowstone) – 9-year-old Sarah Simons of Texas was sworn in as Montana’s first ever honorary game warden on September 15th at the community center in West Yellowstone.
Sarah earned her title thanks to her mission of sending children battling life-threatening diseases packages filled with gifts and items to help them feel better. Sarah herself also battles severe life-threatening incurable diseases and received the idea to help other kids when she was gifted a similar package by New Jersey police officers.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Chief of Law Enforcement Ron Howell presided over the ceremony and administered the oath of office to Sarah in front of her family and several other Montana game wardens. Upon completing the oath of office, Sarah was immediately promoted to the rank of sergeant.
