(HELENA) – Governor Greg Gianforte last week recognized Peter Olson of Culbertson with the Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation for his distinguished military service and longstanding commitment to his community.
His service included leadership roles with Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, engineer combat battalions, and construction units across the United States and overseas. Olson also served as Far East Operations Chief for the Officer in Charge of Construction-Pacific and later as Operations Chief for the Third Naval Construction Brigade and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Eighteen. He retired in July 2004 with the First Naval Construction Division.
His military honors include the Army Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
