HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board met Tuesday evening and discussed various old and new items of business.
This fourth of July the Havre Jaycees will still be holding their annual firework display. The public will not have access to the fairgrounds during the display, but everyone is welcome to view the show offsite.
The fairground’s Bigger Better Barn received a $66,015 bid from Clausen and Sons General Contractors. The bid is set to replace four skylights and the fabric going down the side wall of the facility. This bid was accepted by the board and they are hoping the project will be finished by the end of 2020.
The only item of new business was whether or not to fund the shipment of a new front end loader to the fairgrounds. After some thought, the board decided to budget up to $5,000 to get the loader from California to Havre.
As the meeting adjourned, Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson commended the board for all the progress they have made despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.
“I’d like to recognize the fair board for the time and effort and dedication that they’ve put forth in trying to have a fair. And not only that but the improvements going on at the fairgrounds right now. It’s pretty amazing and it’s kind of like if you don’t have a fair, what do we do? Well, we improve. So, I just want to recognize the board and say thank you – job well done.”
