HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board met Tuesday night for their regular meeting and set the dates for next year’s fair. Fair Board Chairman Tyler Smith says the fair will take place July 17th through the 21st in 2019.
They also plan on hiring a new manager soon, but the position will be a little different.
“For the last three managers, we’ve proven that hiring them essentially by the hour, just hasn’t worked out. So we actually want to hire this manager under, kind of a contractor-type situation, an independent contractor.”
Smith says they are looking forward to an increased budget after the Fair Mill Levy passed.
“That’s going to be a game changer for our fair. It’s really going to make possible big improvements into the capital money that we can put back into the fairground. And it’s really going to allow us to have a better facility that’s used year-round.”
They also signed a new, three-year contract with Dreamland Carnival, which set the Fair for the third week of July for those years.
